DAY 2 Casablanca – Essaouira

Following breakfast, our journey takes us to Essaouira, a port and resort town located along the coast. On the way there, a stop is made at El Jadida’s former Berber settlement, known as “Mazagan.” Then, our travels lead us to the nearby city of Safi. Home to a vast and vibrant pottery industry, Safi can be explored further during a guided walking tour. Afterwards, we head over to Essaouira and check into our hotel for the night. The rest of the evening can be spent as desired.

DAY 3 Essaouira

Set off to explore Essaouira on a guided city tour after a hearty breakfast at the hotel! There is a special chance to visit a Moroccan Oil House and learn all about the production of the renowned ‘Moroccan Gold’. Shop for some of the oil products before enjoying a free period of time and a delicious local Moroccan meal this evening.

DAY 4 Essaouira – Marrakech

This morning, our journey to Marrakech began. We found ourselves taking a delightful horse and carriage ride through town, visiting monuments like the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian tombs, and the regal Bahia Palace. Eventually, our ride ended at Djemaa el-Fna Square, giving us the opportunity to explore the Souk and its exotic aromas. We also had the opportunity to shop for souvenirs during our visit.

DAY 5 Marrakech

An ideal start to the day would be a tour of the three museums located within close proximity – the Berber Museum, Jardins Majorelle, and Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Once you’ve finished exploring, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to do some shopping.

DAY 6 Marrakech – Dades Gorges

We’ll begin the day with an early breakfast, setting our sights southward to the designated UNESCO Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. Along the way, we’ll cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which stands at a high elevation of 2260 meters. We’ll experience the transition from semi-arid regions of the south-east High Atlas to the more lush, fertile plains of the Atlantic.

Once we arrive in Ait Ben Haddou, we’ll spend our time exploring the nearby alleyways and Kasbahs of this ancient fortified city. Although it’s now home to only a few of the former 300 Berber families, it’s still a bustling, breathtaking site. Built in the 11th century, the Ksar Ait Benhaddou is one of the most impressive Kasbahs in Morocco, and has provided a gorgeous backdrop for films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.

After lunch, we’ll have to reluctantly depart Ait Ben Haddou, making our way to Boumalne Dades for an overnight stay.

DAY 7 Boumalne Dades

We set out after breakfast towards the breathtaking Boumalne Dades Gorges. On the way, we catch a glimpse of the imposing Dadès Canyon, a key feature of the area. This scene of eroded rocks and quaint kasbahs, skirted by the Dadès River, is truly remarkable. As we take in this extraordinary landscape, we can’t help but marvel at the canyon’s grandeur.

DAY 8 Dades Gorges – Merzouga

Our journey to the Sahara desert begins in Boumalne Dades. We’ll take a drive down the road of 1001 Kasbahs to Tinghir, the gateway to the Todra Gorge. This tranquil oasis boasts lush palm gardens and stunning ravines and streams. After we arrive, there will be free time to explore the area. Lunch can also be found at local cafes. Later, a camel caravan will transport us through the sand dunes and provide views of the spectacular sunset. Upon dusk, we will reach our luxury desert camp. A traditional Moroccan dinner awaits us underneath the starlit sky.

DAY 9 Merzouga – Azrou

We bid farewell to the Sahara Desert and begin the ascent up the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in Midelt, a Berber-inhabited market town in the high plains of Morocco, nestled between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas ranges. We explore the town, admiring the colorful sights as we dine on traditional tangine restaurants that line the main street. Here we take an afternoon walk, meet a local Berber family, and attend a cooking class, learning how to make a tagine and a demonstration of how to make the iconic mint tea. Afterward, we settle in for the night in the comforting embrace of the Middle Atlas Mountains.

DAY 10 Azrou – Fes

Jump out of bed early as you prepare to depart for Fez. When you arrive in the city, take a leisurely stroll through New Fez (Al Jdid), known for its vibrant atmosphere and picturesque landmarks. Stop to grab a bite to eat and once your hunger is satiated, head to the hotel to get some rest. This afternoon, explore the city at your own pace, including the traditional bathhouse experience (a must-try!). End the night by feasting on delicious food at a local restaurant.

DAY 11 Fes

Come and explore the historic and vibrant city of Fez with us on our full day tour! We’ll take you to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the tanneries, the ancient Andalusian and El Quaraoiyin Mosques, and Najjarine Square. Take a break and enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the cafes in the area, or peruse the local Souks. To top off your unforgettable experience, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner in a local restaurant!

DAY 12 Fes

Starting our tour in Fes, we take a scenic trip to Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, a quaint hilltop town with a complex network of narrow alleys. Here we explore the historic sites and absorb the unique atmosphere. Then we progress to the remarkable Roman ruins of Volubilis – a designated UNESCO world heritage site of a once-thriving city. Our last stop is the imperial city of Meknes in the early afternoon. While taking in the remarkable monuments such as El Hedim Square and Bab Mansour, we experience Meknes’ inviting atmosphere. Towards the evening we make our way back to Fes.

DAY 13 Fes – Chefchaouen

We set off from Fes in the morning, planning to arrive in the idyllic mountain town of Chefchaouen before noon. This picturesque village situated in the Rif Mountains is most known for its bright blue-painted streets, walls, and buildings. Tourists flock to this destination to take in its sights, including the Kasbah, the Ras El Maa river valley, and the Spanish Mosque, which is a half hour hike away.

Visitors find immense pleasure in exploring Chefchaouen and its surroundings, with its ideal setting for shopping, wandering, and taking stunning photos. Whether you are looking for an adventure or a relaxing day, Chefchaouen is sure to provide.

DAY 14 Chefchaouen

We’ll head out to the Akchour Cascades this afternoon in order to explore the stunning beauty of the Rif Mountains. We will be driving to Akchour to start our trek to the Cascades d’Akchour, which features an upper and lower waterfall and a few smaller cascades. Along the way, we will look out for the Bridge of God, an incredibly tall natural rock bridge, and the lower waterfall, which will take us approximately 1.5-2 hours. We can either bring along our food for a picnic or stop for refreshment at one of the tea shops scattered across our pathway.

DAY 15 Chefchaouen – Tangier

We should plan to depart for Tangier and arrive before lunch time. Afterward, we can have a meal together and then go on a guided tour of the old city. During our excursion, we’ll be able to appreciate the beauty of Tangier, the Kasbah, and the Medina.

DAY 16 Tangier – Casablanca

This morning in Tangier, visit the famous Hercules Caves. Depart for Casablanca on the high-speed train; take in the spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea on one side and mountains on the other. Arrive in the afternoon and transfer to our hotel for our final night of stay. We celebrate our discoveries with a farewell sunset dinner.
